Elitaliana Deploys Airbus H145 for Offshore Energy Missions in West Africa
Elitaliana, an Italian operator, has signed a deal with IAS to utilise an H145 helicopter for offshore operations. The H145, known for its versatility, is set to support various missions, including personnel transport and medical evacuations, in the offshore energy sector.
The H145, manufactured by Airbus Helicopters, is equipped to handle diverse tasks. It can be fitted with a winch or stretcher for medical evacuations, ensuring pre-stabilised patients can be transported safely. Additionally, it is IFR certified, enabling all-weather operations, crucial for offshore missions.
The primary role of the H145 is to transport personnel and equipment to offshore energy platforms located approximately 50 NM from the coast. IAS, the operating company, has been using an H145 for offshore missions in Ivory Coast since early 2025. This helicopter is part of a fleet of Dauphin helicopters based in Abidjan, performing various tasks such as offshore transport, VIP services, and medical evacuations.
The H145 operates six days a week, performing one to four rotations daily. It accumulates around 50 to 80 flight hours each month, demonstrating its reliability and efficiency. IAS plans to expand its operations across West Africa, with ambitions to introduce a second H145 into the region in the coming months.
The H145 was introduced to support offshore operations following the discovery of a major oil field by ENI. Its cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and reduced maintenance requirements make it an attractive choice for offshore operations. With IAS's expansion plans and the H145's proven track record, the future of offshore helicopter services in West Africa looks promising.
