In the heart of Berlin, a series of high-rise projects are reshaping the city's skyline, attracting global tech giants and fostering a vibrant business environment.

One of the most notable developments is the EDGE East Side, a high-rise project under construction near the East Side Gallery. The expanded base zone of this high-rise will feature a creatively designed "vertical hub," offering space for co-working and gastronomic offerings. EDGE Technologies, the project's developer, emphasises its commitment to sustainability, using circular economy products and materials free of volatile organic compounds. However, the project has been met with controversy in the district, with massive protests and public opposition from the local community.

Another significant player in Berlin's high-rise scene is Amazon. The future anchor tenant of a 140-meter tall building in Friedrichshain district, directly on Warschauer Straße, employs over 2,800 people in the Berlin-Brandenburg region. Construction for the Amazon Tower has already begun, and upon completion, the building will primarily be occupied by Amazon, giving it the unofficial name "Amazon Tower." Amazon will occupy 28 of the building's 35 floors.

Zalando, a Berlin-based online retailer, will also be a significant tenant in the city's high-rise developments. The company already uses several buildings on various sites and will soon occupy another object with the "Stream Berlin" building. The office building at the Ostbahnhof, a former Karstadt property, has been in use by Zalando for some time.

Besides the Amazon Tower, another landmark in the making is the Grasblau building on the Landwehr Canal in Kreuzberg. The design for this office building, by the architects of the Bjarke Ingels Group, is expected to be completed by 2023.

The high-rise boom is not limited to the city centre. In Kreuzberg, UTB is constructing Germany's tallest wooden building, which is 98 meters high. Two more high-rises are being built on the western side of the site, near the Ostbahnhof, for a residential project named "Max & Moritz."

A new business campus is planned for the historic railway site at the Postbahnhof, but it is still in the planning phase. Meanwhile, another high-rise development, a 150-meter residential tower at Alexanderplatz, is also underway.

As Berlin continues to attract global businesses and tech giants, the city's skyline is set to change dramatically. The high-rise developments, along with the new business ventures, will undoubtedly shape the future of Berlin, making it a hub for innovation and growth.
