Dublin Airport's Star Alliance Presence Soars to 1.5 Million Passengers

Dublin Airport has witnessed a significant boost in its Star Alliance presence, with 1.5 million passengers in 2020. This growth is attributed to the addition of new carriers and expanded services by existing ones. The airport's development team is currently exploring unserved markets in Asia to further enhance its connectivity.

The expansion began in 2016 when Air Canada became the tenth Star Alliance member to operate from Dublin. Since then, several airlines have increased their services or initiated new routes.

SAS will celebrate a milestone 50 years of service to Dublin Airport in April 2021. Meanwhile, Air Canada Rouge is set to expand its service to Vancouver this summer. Turkish Airlines will maintain its double daily operation into the next winter season. Looking ahead, Aegean Airlines will become the ninth Star Alliance carrier to operate from Dublin in June 2021.

Ethiopian Airlines marked a significant moment in 2015 as the first African scheduled carrier to serve Dublin. Lufthansa will expand its Munich service to nine flights per week during the peak summer months. United Airlines has also expanded its Newark operation to a year-round double daily service since Winter 2016/2017. Swiss International Airlines will operate 13 services per week to Dublin Airport during the summer of 2021.

Dublin Airport's growth in passenger numbers and connectivity is a testament to its successful expansion strategy. With the addition of new carriers and increased services, the airport continues to strengthen its position as a major European hub. The upcoming Routes Asia event in Manila presents an opportunity to further fill network gaps and enhance Dublin's global reach.
