A good salary came in second (42%), followed closely by work-life balance (41%) and a positive work environment (38%). Younger generations seem to place more importance on work-life balance than their older counterparts: 45% of 18- to 24-year-olds considered it a top priority, compared to 33% of those aged 55 to 65.
Business Trips and Meaningful Work Score Low
Business travel was the least important factor for employees, with 56% considering it irrelevant. Extra benefits and the purpose of one's job also took a back seat, with 29% and 28%, respectively, giving them the lowest priority. In recent years, the need for extra benefits and a sense of purpose has been a hot topic in many HR departments. However, career opportunities and good transportation links were also low priorities in the survey.
