DEP Set to Renew Polluting Permit for Dart Container Corp in PA
Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is set to renew a Title V operating permit for Dart Container Corporation of PA in East Lampeter Township, Lancaster County. The permit, numbered 36-05117, covers emissions from the facility's foam cup and container manufacturing processes.
In 2024, the facility released significant amounts of pollutants into the atmosphere. These included 119.43 tons of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), 5.1 tons of carbon monoxide (CO), and 6.0 tons of nitrogen oxides (NOx). The major sources of these emissions are the foam cup and container production processes at the plant.
The DEP is inviting public comments and protests regarding this permit renewal. Interested parties have 30 days to submit their views. Additionally, requests for a public hearing can be made during this period. Copies of the application and DEP's analysis are accessible to the public upon request.
The DEP's decision to renew the permit, following the public comment period, will depend on the facility's compliance with environmental regulations and the impact of its operations on the local citizen and environment.
