Hey there!

Let's talk about a pressing issue with Citroën vehicles over in Europe. Bet you didn't see this coming!

The CEO of Citroën, Xavier Chardon, announced some troubling news. There's a situation going on that's so serious, vehicle owners should steer clear of driving their vehicles until they get 'em fixed. And since safety's our top priority, we're here to fill you in on the deets.

Remember the incident in France back in June, when a car accident near Reims resulted in a tragic death? Guess what caused it? You got it - a Takata airbag explosion!

Now, these faulty Takata airbags have been installed in millions of vehicles worldwide, and since 2014, there've been millions of recalls to replace these bad boys. Unfortunately, it seems the problem persists.

Citroën's parent company, Stellantis, has taken action and dispatched an immediate 'stop drive' measure across Europe. Why? Because these vehicles are too risky to be on the road without repairs.

So, if you own a Citroën C3 or DS3 produced between 2009 and 2019, take note. The recall affects approximately 441,000 of these cars across Europe, with around 82,000 in France alone. Stellantis is currently trying to track down owners of these vehicles and ensure they're informed about the recall.

You might be wondering, 'What makes these airbags so dangerous, anyway?' Well, it turns out, when deployed, they can explode with alarming force, leading to at least 13 deaths in France alone. Yikes!

In light of a recent fatal accident in Reims, the French government has requested this immediate 'stop drive' action on vehicles across Europe, including Germany, Belgium, and France. So, if you're rocking a Citroën C3 or DS3, don't delay - contact your dealer and get that airbag repaired ASAP!

Stay alert and stay safe!

The Commission, as of yet, has not adopted a decision on the application of the directive in relation to the Takata airbag issue found in numerous vehicles, including those in the automotive industry such as Citroën.

Due to the urgent 'stop drive' measure enforced across various countries like Germany, Belgium, and France, the finance sector is likely to be impacted by the fallout from this faulty airbag recall in the transportation sector.
