Customs Raid Uncovers Black Work and Employment Violations in Hospitality Industry

The Main Customs Office Singen recently conducted a nationwide inspection in the hospitality industry, focusing on potential black work and employment violations. The operation, which took place on Friday, September 19, 2025, involved USCIS officers and tax investigators, targeting 17 catering establishments and interviewing 72 employees.

The inspections uncovered several violations, including failures to meet recording obligations and notification requirements, as well as instances of employing foreigners without adhering to § 404 SGB regulations. A total of 52 personnel from Singen and Waldshut, along with 8 tax investigation department employees, took part in the inspections.

The operation resulted in two searches of business or residential premises, yielding substantial evidence. This effort by the Main Customs Office Singen is part of their ongoing commitment to securing social systems and state revenues by addressing black work and employment irregularities in the hotel and catering industry.
