Customs Raid at Solar Park Uncovers 11 Illegal Workers
On 20.05.2025, the Main Customs Office Frankfurt (Oder) inspected a solar park construction site in Frankfurt (Oder). The inspection led to the discovery of 11 workers suspected of illegal employment without valid residence permits.
Out of the 17 workers checked, 11 were found to be Ukrainian citizens with temporary residence permits for tourist purposes in Slovakia or Poland. Their employment at the solar park made their stay in Germany illegal. Each suspect was questioned, and a security deposit was collected as part of criminal proceedings. Their passports and residence permits were confiscated. Further processing of the case will be handled by the immigration authority and the Zollkriminalamt (Customs Criminal Office) of the Directorate of Customs Investigations. This office is responsible for processing further investigations and penalizing illegal employment in Germany, including cases involving unauthorized electrical installers on construction sites like solar parks.
