Continued Strife Regarding Shuttle Buses in Strohländle Persists

The Strohlaendle weekend in Leonberger Engelberg has been the centre of a controversy recently, with Leonberger Utilities CEO, Dr. Mildenberger, and event organizer, Johannes Leichtle, at odds over the event's management.

Dr. Mildenberger accused the event organizers of significant planning oversights and little problem-solving behaviour, citing operational challenges due to inadequate coordination with the utility company regarding power usage and infrastructure impact. He also expressed concern over disturbances, specifically noise levels.

However, Leichtle defended the event's planning and execution, stating that all necessary permits were obtained and steps were taken to minimize disruption. He asserted that any issues were addressed promptly and that the event contributes positively to the local community.

The controversy deepened when a scheduled free bus service from the train station and old town to Engelberg on Saturdays failed to materialize, and some parking garage users received fines despite the promise of free parking from 5 PM to midnight on Saturdays. Repeated follow-up questions from Mildenberger went unanswered.

City works have since taken action, cancelling the fines issued on Saturday night and organizing a free bus service for the upcoming August Saturdays. They have also proactively suggested restructuring the support for the Strohlaendle weekend to ensure clarity and commitment in the future.

In a bid for future support, Leichtle proposed direct donations to the newly founded Straw Man association. Meanwhile, Leichtle reserves the right to take legal action against the statements made by Dr. Mildenberger.

As the dispute continues, both parties remain firm in their positions, with Mildenberger focusing on operational and disturbance issues and Leichtle emphasizing thorough planning and community benefits. The Strohlaendle weekend in Leonberger Engelberg remains a topic of discussion in the local community.

The controversy expanded beyond operational issues as the absent free bus service and incorrectly imposed fines in the parking garages raised questions about the event's management in the transportation industry. Amidst this, Leichtle's proposal for direct donations to the Straw Man association signified an attempt to secure support in the finance sector.
