After a temporary halt, tram traffic via Kölnischer Platz is set to resume from September 11, bringing much-needed relief to public transport users in the city. The direct tram connection between Stadtfeld and the city center will also be restored during this period.
However, not all is smooth sailing as work on bridge protection and overhead line installation continues. The tram tracks under the Ring bridges at Halberstädter Straße and Brenneckestraße remain closed, causing diversions in day and night traffic for affected public transport lines.
The night lines N3, N4, and N5 will retain their current routes, but other lines such as 1, 4, and 6 will directly serve the city center once again. Line 3 will also return, connecting Olvenstedt with Leipziger Chaussee via the main station/ Kölnischer Platz.
Unfortunately, no tram service will be possible between Große Diesdorfer Straße and Olvenstedter Platz during this time. Line 10, which runs via Wiener and Leipziger Straße, will be affected by the closure at Damaschkeplatz.
Work on bridge protection below the temporary bridge is scheduled from September 1 to 5. The intersection of Adelheidring - Olvenstedter Straße will be closed to trams from September 8 to 10. Detailed information on public transport during the closure at Adelheidring - Olvenstedter Straße will follow.
It's important to note that an altered timetable is currently in effect due to the closures. The specialized company commissioned to carry out the work on the bridge protection system under the temporary bridge in Magdeburg and to install the overhead line from September 1 to September 5, 2025, has not been specified in the available information.
Despite these temporary disruptions, the resumption of tram traffic via Kölnischer Platz on September 11 is not affected by the closure at Adelheidring - Olvenstedter Straße. We advise all public transport users to stay updated with the latest information for a smoother journey.
