Construction work on Eupen road, commencing from 4th August
A major road renovation project is set to take place on Eupener Straße in Aachen City, running from August 4th to August 26th. The work, necessary due to the poor condition of the road surface, aims to reduce noise and dirt pollution to a minimum through appropriate protective measures.
During this period, parking will be prohibited throughout the construction zone, and a temporary stop will be set up in front of house number 197 to replace the Jahnplatz and Diepenbenden stops for lines 34 and 54. Parking will be reduced to one side along the entire section of Eupener Straße to ensure a sufficiently wide road for bus encounters.
For traffic heading out of the city, the route will be closed, with a detour signposted for traffic heading towards Belgium. Unfortunately, a detour via Straße Am Chorusberg is not possible due to lack of side facilities and inability to handle detour traffic of this magnitude.
For line 14, during the partial closure, the route will follow a designated detour from the Ronheider Weg stop via Eupener Straße, St.-Vither-Straße, Siegelallee, Monschauer Straße to the Eupen highway. During the 2.5-day full closure, line 14 will use this detour in both directions. A temporary stop will also be set up in the Jahnplatz area, at the height of Eupener Straße number 197 heading into town, during the 2.5-day full closure.
For traffic heading into the city, a one-way traffic regulation is in place from Diepenbenden. The St.-Vither-Straße stop heading into town will be discontinued for lines 34 and 54. Aseag is adjusting the schedules for lines 34 and 54 during the partial and full closures of Eupener Straße.
It is not recommended to drive vehicles during the works, and walking on the prepared road surface with adhesive is not recommended as it may cause permanent soiling of clothing. The parking strips along Eupener Straße will be re-marked after the renovation to comply with new regulations.
The renovation of the cycle paths will take place at a later date.
