Construction of L 280 stretch from Ludweiler to Werbeln: full shutdown starting 30 July 2025.

The State Road Authority (LfS) has announced extensive road repair works on State Road L 280 between Ludweiler and Werbeln in the Saarland region. The project aims to permanently repair the road surface to improve traffic safety and comfort.

Scope of Work

The repair works include resurfacing a stretch of approximately 1.25 kilometers, fixing potholes, and structural maintenance. This comprehensive overhaul is designed to enhance the quality and longevity of the road.

Duration

The repair works are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, and are expected to last for approximately two weeks, with the possibility of extending to around August 8, 2025. However, the exact duration may vary depending on weather conditions and technical requirements.

Detour Routes

Due to the full or partial closure of L 280, drivers are advised to follow posted signs directing them through Ludweiler and Werbeln. These detours often reroute via adjacent roads such as state or municipal roads to bypass the construction zone. Navigation apps and local traffic updates will provide real-time assistance.

For drivers coming from Werbeln, the detour route goes via L 168 to Wadgassen, then on L 271 through Hostenbach and Schaffhausen to Volklingen-Wehrden. From Volklingen-Wehrden, the route continues via L 165 through the Volklingen district of Geislautern back onto L 280 in Ludweiler.

Traffic Safety Measures

To ensure the safety of workers and drivers, speed limits will be reduced in the construction zone. Temporary traffic signals, signage, and barriers will be installed. Flaggers or traffic controllers may be present during working hours to manage vehicle flow. Night work may be limited or conducted with additional lighting and safety protocols.

Advice for Drivers

Drivers are advised to plan extra travel time during the construction period. Using the recommended detours can help avoid delays. It is crucial for drivers to exercise caution and adhere to all posted signs and traffic controls in the work zone.

For the latest updates, drivers can check the local government and transport department websites or news outlets. The State Road Authority (LfS) requests drivers for understanding regarding the road restrictions, as the aim of the repair is to prevent future damage and more extensive measures.
