City Launches Bridge Safety Probe, Causing Temporary Closures
The city has initiated a thorough inspection of several bridge structures, leading to temporary closures and lane narrowing. The Kurt-Schumacher-Ring and surrounding streets are currently impacted, with more bridges to be examined in the coming weeks.
The bridges under review include those at the Böllenseesiedlung, Oppenheimer Street, Alzeyer Street, and over the B43. During the inspections, some bridges may have restricted use, causing possible lane narrowing or partial closures. The cycling and pedestrian crossing at Ostpark over the Evreux ring is also closed for inspections.
The duration of the work at Ostpark is uncertain, as further inspections and deep construction work may follow. After the inspections, the city will unveil a five-year program for bridge repairs and expected costs. In the coming weeks, inspections will be carried out on four more bridge structures.
The city appeals for road users' understanding during this period. They will endeavor to keep unavoidable traffic disruptions to a minimum. The results of the inspections will guide the city's plans for bridge repairs and maintenance over the next five years.
