RSGT Expands Chattogram Terminal and Partners with Local Associations

The Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT) in Chattogram, Bangladesh, has embarked on an expansion journey to meet the growing demands of the logistics sector. The terminal, operated by RSGT, began commercial operations on 10 June 2024 and is now aiming to double its handling capacity by the end of 2025 [1].

The expansion plan includes additional space and advanced equipment, with full expansion scheduled for March 2026 [2]. This growth is driven by RSGT's commitment to safety, efficiency, and capacity building, as well as its goal of fostering strong partnerships that benefit the entire logistics ecosystem.

Recently, RSGT held a coordination meeting with C&F (Clearing and Forwarding) Owners and Employees Associations to strengthen operational efficiency and achieve better outcomes for the industry [3]. The meeting, chaired by Syed Aref Sarwar, the Head of Commercial and Public Affairs at RSGT, and Syed Tarique, was attended by senior RSGT officials, C&F leaders Md Shawkat Ali, and Kazi Md. Khairul Bashar Milton, among others [4].

The meeting focused on cooperation, structured processes, and long-term service enhancements. It is part of RSGT's strategy to improve operational efficiency, worker safety, and service quality, contributing to national economic growth in Bangladesh [5].

It is important to note that RSGT's growth strategy also includes major investments and diversification in Saudi Arabia, where RSGT is expanding into multipurpose terminal operations, managing multiple Red Sea port facilities, and investing around US$418 million to enhance infrastructure and services [1]. However, these Saudi Arabian developments are distinct from the Chattogram terminal's expansion and partnerships.

In summary, RSGT is expanding its Chattogram terminal to double its handling capacity by the end of 2025 and aims to complete full expansion by March 2026 through partnerships with local C&F associations for better service and capacity [2]. Simultaneously, RSGT is also pursuing large-scale multipurpose terminal expansion and investment in Saudi ports along the Red Sea, separate from the Bangladesh terminal [1]. These developments reflect RSGT's commitment to supporting the logistics and shipping industry in both regions.
