Car windows can now be legally tinted to a 50% level under the new regulations that have been implemented.

In a significant update to vehicle tinting regulations, Kuwait has issued Decision No. 1398 of 2025 by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef. This decision aims to enhance driver comfort while ensuring safety and law enforcement visibility.

Under the new rules, vehicles are now permitted to have factory-specified tinted windows, as long as the tint does not exceed 50%. This applies to all vehicle windows, except the front windshield, which must remain fully transparent and comply with Gulf safety standards. Reflective glass or reflective films remain banned.

The standardization of vehicle tinting is the primary objective of this amendment. This process focuses on maintaining driver visibility and road safety. Interestingly, the use of colored foils for tinting is also allowed within the 50% limit.

The amendment also clarifies that the tint on all windows, except the front windshield opposite the driver, can now exceed 50%. However, the front windshield opposite the driver must continue to comply with Gulf safety standards.

These regulations took effect immediately upon publication in the Official Gazette, as reported by Kuwait Al-Youm. The decision amends certain provisions of the executive regulations of the Traffic Law.

It is important to note that the amendment does not specify any new advertisements related to vehicle tinting. For updates on the latest news and regulations, we encourage drivers to stay informed through reliable sources.

In summary, the new vehicle tinting rules in Kuwait allow for 50% tinting on most windows, while maintaining clear visibility on the front windshield. Reflective or mirrored films are still prohibited, and the use of factory-specified tinted glass or colored tinted films is permitted within the 50% limit. The primary goal of these changes is to standardize vehicle tinting and ensure road safety.

  1. Therevised automotive regulations in Kuwait, effective immediately, allow for the application of tints up to 50% on car windows, excluding the front windshield, thus promoting lifestyle enhancements for drivers.
  2. In the realm of industry and finance, car-maintenance businesses in Kuwait now have the opportunity to offer customers factory-specified tinted windows or colored films, as long as the tint does not surpass 50%, in compliance with the new transportation laws.
  3. Kuwait's decision to standardize vehicle tinting not only aims to increase driver comfort and ensure safety but also enforces legislation pertaining to industry, finance, and transportation, ultimately promoting road safety and a safer lifestyle for all commuters.
