Brunswick Launches BOMA+ Competition to Revitalize City Center

The city of Brunswick and Volksbank BRAWO eG have launched an ambitious architectural competition, aiming to revitalize the city center. The first phase of urban planning will commence in October 2025, with the second phase of architecture set to follow in early 2026.

The competition, known as BOMA+, is divided into two phases. The first phase, focusing on urban planning, will run from October 2025 to the end of the year. This phase will lay the groundwork for the second phase, which will concentrate on architectural design. The final jury session for the second phase is scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.

The city council has approved the competition procedure, and invitation documents will be sent out soon. The goal is to achieve a convincing architectural design at the end of the process that will guide future urban planning, traffic management, and architectural development. While the specific architectural firms applying in the second phase are not yet known, the city and Volksbank BRAWO eG hope to set a milestone for the city center's development through this competition.
