Biogas Plant Operator Naturenergie Isny Files for Insolvency

Naturenergie Isny GmbH, a prominent organic energy supplier in Baden-Württemberg, has filed for insolvency. The biogas plant it operates in the Allgäu region supplies 17% of the energy to the city of Isny, and its future is now uncertain.

The insolvency affects local farmers who supplied substrates to the plant for sustainable energy production. Despite the setback, efforts are underway to continue the plant's operation with a new concept. Options include utilising food waste or finding an alternative use for the land.

Two years ago, the company planned to build a second plant at a cost of around €35 million. However, this project faced opposition from residents and did not materialise. Now, the future of Isny's energy supply is at risk, as the insolvency could lead to the closure of the existing plant.

Naturenergie Isny GmbH's insolvency has raised concerns about the future of the biogas plant and the energy supply for the spa town of Isny. While the plant continues to operate, efforts are focused on finding a new concept to keep it running. The fate of the energy supply for the town hangs in the balance.
