Billionaire philanthropist, Bill Gates, the man who Windows made, is giving away 99% of his eye-popping $108 billion fortune. That's according to the Wall Street Journal, and it's gonna be quite the gigantic donation.

This 70-year-old tech tycoon is in the process of transferring most of his dough to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a charity juggernaut, for use in a plethora of humanitarian causes. What's spurring this generosity? Well, Gates is reacting to the reduction of international health aid from the US and other developed countries. He aims to be a shining example for his wealthy peers to follow.

Inspirational words from Gates, "I ain't wantin' folks sayin' 'He died with loads of money', when I keel over." This sentiment echoes that of American industrialist Andrew Carnegie, who famously stated, "He who dies rich, dies disgraced."

Gates and Melinda founded their eponymous charity in the year 2000, and it's already dished out over $100 billion to various health and education projects. While the foundation initially intended to carry on even after their demise, Gates now plans to wrap it up by 2045. During this time, it's expected that they'll drop over $200 billion on the eradication of poverty, child mortality, polio, malaria, and educational inequality in various countries.

"In 20 years, there'll be fresh rich folks on the block, and they'll figger out how to lend a hand pretty quick," Gates told BBC. "It's all about urgency. We can dole out a whole lotta money if we ain't immortal, and I know these expenditures'll align with my values."
