Bamberg's Eckerts Wins Environmental Award for Sustainable Practices
Bamberg's Eckerts, a renowned hotel and catering business, has been recognised for its environmental efforts. The business, run by the Nepomuk and Eckerts family, has been awarded the Bayern Environmental and Climate Pact for the second time. This accolade reflects their commitment to sustainability and green practices.
Eckerts' dedication to renewable energy is evident in their power supply. They utilise hydroelectric plants, ensuring their energy consumption is clean and sustainable. To further encourage eco-friendly practices, they've installed an electric charging station for guests and visitors.
The business also prioritises efficient heating. They rely entirely on district heating, a system that minimises energy loss and reduces emissions. Additionally, they've recently updated their hot water system, further enhancing their energy efficiency.
Eckerts also promotes environmental responsibility among its guests. They offer an incentive for guests to skip daily room cleaning, with the hotel planting a tree worldwide for each guest who participates. This initiative not only reduces water and energy usage but also contributes to reforestation efforts.
The Bayern Environmental and Climate Pact, an initiative of the Bavarian State Government, BIHK, BHT, recognises businesses that meet stringent environmental criteria. Eckerts meets these criteria, including the use of 100% renewable energy, 95% LED lighting, and a ban on fabric softeners.
Eckerts' commitment to sustainability has been recognised with the Bayern Environmental and Climate Pact award. Their use of renewable energy, efficient heating, and eco-friendly practices make them a leader in sustainable hospitality. Their initiatives, such as the tree-planting incentive, also encourage guests to participate in environmental conservation.
