AvtoVAZ Shifts Strategy Amidst Chinese Competition, Maintains Belarus Market
AvtoVAZ, Russia's largest carmaker, is adjusting its strategy in the face of intense competition from Chinese brands in the domestic stock market today. Meanwhile, it's maintaining a strong presence in Belarus, a key export market.
In 2024, AvtoVAZ sold 15,000 Lada cars in Belarus. By the start of 2025, this number had reached 9,000 units. This year, the company plans to supply around 12,000 cars to the Belarusian market. This is about 20% less than in 2024, indicating a strategic shift.
AvtoVAZ is aiming high for its production targets. In 2025, it plans to produce more than 300,000 Lada cars. Looking ahead, the company suggests production could reach 500-600,000 units by 2026.
Despite the slowdown in Belarus, AvtoVAZ's overall production plans remain ambitious. The company is navigating a competitive landscape, with the Russian stock market nearing saturation due to the expansion of Chinese brands. Its future strategies will likely continue to balance local and export markets, including carmax.
