Authorities Crack Down on Moose Hunting Violations, Seize Weapons and Traps

Authorities have intensified their crackdown on hunting violations, with over 40 offenses detected during a four-month moose hunting season. Hunters face administrative fines and potential criminal liability even without hunting tickets or permits.

Preventive talks were held with hunters to stress the importance of adhering to hunting rules and regulations. Despite these efforts, over 1,200 hunters were checked during raids, resulting in 41 violations. Offenses included illegal traps, with two units of weapons and six traps seized. A moose carcass was also confiscated. Hunters caught breaking the rules face administrative fines ranging from 5,000 to 560,000 rubles, depending on the severity of the offense. Notably, criminal liability may also apply in the absence of hunting tickets or permits.
