In a series of developments regarding the murder of Patna-based industrialist Gopal Khemka, the Bihar Police have made significant progress in their investigation. On Tuesday morning, Vikas alias Raj, an accused in the case, was killed in a police encounter near Damaiya ghat in Patna.

Vikas, who was reportedly the arms supplier to the main accused in the Gopal Khemka murder case, was suspected of being involved in the crime. The police encounter took place at around 2:45 am near Damaiya ghat in the limits of Malslami police station. The authorities have recovered one pistol and a cartridge from the site of the encounter. The body of Vikas was sent to Nalanda Medical College for post-mortem examination.

The crime in question is the murder of Gopal Khemka, a prominent Bihar businessman. Khemka was shot dead near the main gate of his residence in Patna's Gandhi Maidan area on Friday, July 4. The police have confirmed the involvement of Ashok Sahu, a businessman from Nalanda, in the crime. According to the investigation, Sahu allegedly paid ₹10 lakh to have Khemka killed due to a long-standing business feud that escalated during the Bankipore Club elections last year.

The police have been gathering evidence against Sahu, indicating he gave the contract to kill Khemka. Sahu has been identified as a person allegedly financing the contract killers in the Gopal Khemka murder case. The motive behind the murder appears to be related to land disputes among other business-related issues.

Prior to his murder, Khemka had requested police protection for his family. The police are still investigating many reasons behind the murder and have stated that they need to check many call records.

The additional Director General of Police, Kundan Krishnan, has stated that evidence against the shooter has been gathered. The shooter who killed Khemka has been arrested. The investigation is ongoing, and more details are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.

In the ongoing investigation of the business-related murder of Gopal Khemka, the alleged financier of the contract killers, Ashok Sahu, is being targeted. The police are also examining the role of general-news, such as the Bankipore Club elections, in the escalation of the business feud that resulted in Khemka's death. Meanwhile, the financial aspects of the crime are under focus, as investigators seek to trace the ₹10 lakh paid for the murder, which may lead to more suspects involved in the financial transactions.
