Appointment of new Chief Investment Officer announced by Robeco
Anton Eser, a seasoned investment leader with over two decades of experience, is set to join Robeco as its new Chief Investment Officer (CIO), effective September 1, 2025. This appointment follows the retirement of Mark van der Kroft, who has been at the helm of Robeco for 25 years.
Eser's career in the investment industry has been marked by significant achievements. Most notably, he served as CIO at fintech firm 10X Investments in South Africa, where he focused on multi-asset solutions for retail clients. Prior to that, Eser was CIO at Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM), where he played a pivotal role in transforming the company from a UK-focused firm into a global asset manager managing over USD 1.5 trillion in assets.
At LGIM, Eser oversaw a team of 350 investment professionals across Index, Active Fixed Income, Global Equities, and Multi-Asset Solutions. He was instrumental in integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors into LGIM’s investment teams and played a significant role in developing the Future World fund range, which emphasizes sustainable investing.
Robeco's CEO, Karin van Baardwijk, has welcomed Eser to the company and expressed excitement about the fresh perspectives he will bring to Robeco's investment platform. Van Baardwijk believes that Eser's expertise aligns with Robeco's strategic ambitions, particularly in expanding its emerging market offerings.
Eser's appointment comes as Mark van der Kroft prepares to retire on October 1, 2025. Van der Kroft's leadership and dedication have been essential in shaping Robeco's investment philosophy and culture. His contributions to the company's success cannot be overstated.
With Eser's arrival, Robeco is poised to continue its growth trajectory. He is expected to play a key role in driving the company's expansion and further integrating ESG considerations into its investment strategies.
Eser's career highlights also include serving as co-head of global fixed income at LGIM from 2013 and as CEO of Caelum Investments. His expertise in multi-asset and fixed income strategies, as well as his leadership across various asset management platforms, make him an ideal fit for Robeco.
As Eser prepares to join Robeco, the company looks forward to benefiting from his wealth of experience and innovative approach to asset management.
Anton Eser's role at Robeco as its new CIO will likely involve significant investments and business decisions, given his expertise in management and his successful track record at companies like 10X Investments and Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM). The company expects him to drive Robeco's expansion and further integrate ESG considerations into its investment strategies, making use of his specialization in multi-asset and fixed income strategies.
