Amazon Studios now led by Salke
After a period of over seven months without a permanent head, Amazon Studios has announced the appointment of Jennifer Salke as its new studio chief.
Jeff Blackburn, Amazon's senior vice president of business development and entertainment, made a statement about Salke's appointment. Blackburn praised Salke's leadership qualities, stating that she has an impeccable reputation as a big leader who emphasizes creativity, collaboration, and teamwork.
Salke's impressive career in the television industry spans over two decades. Prior to her role at Amazon Studios, she served as the president of NBC Entertainment since 2011. During her tenure at NBC, she oversaw the development of comedies and dramas for the network, including popular shows such as The Blacklist and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
Before her role at NBC, Salke was the executive vice president of creative affairs at Twentieth Century Fox Television.
The vacancy at the head of Amazon Studios was caused by the resignation of Roy Price in October. Price resigned due to a sexual harassment allegation, a claim that he has contested. The claim of sexual harassment against Price is a matter of contention.
Despite the controversy surrounding his resignation, Price's departure left Amazon Studios without a head. The studio has been without a permanent studio chief since October.
Salke's deep relationships with creators and talent, as well as her proven track record in the television industry, make her an excellent fit for the role. Blackburn also highlighted Salke's ability to work effectively with creators, emphasizing that she is responsible for shows such as The Blacklist and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt at NBC.
With Salke at the helm, Amazon Studios is poised to continue its growth and success in the competitive world of television production.
