Amazon has significantly expanded its Same-Day and Next-Day delivery services, now reaching over 4,000 small cities and towns in rural America. This move, ahead of the upcoming Prime Day event, is set to create around 170 jobs in these communities.
The tech giant has invested heavily in its delivery network, committing over $4 billion to triple its size by 2026. This expansion, which took effect on June 24, 2025, includes rural areas such as Asbury, Iowa; Fort Seneca, Ohio; and Lewes, Delaware. Amazon also plans to hire in locations like Werne, Dortmund in Germany, and Allersberg in Bavaria in the coming months.
The company's Same-Day and Next-Day delivery services have seen a surge in demand, with a 30% increase in items delivered compared to the previous year. Amazon delivered over 9 billion items using these expedited services in 2024, demonstrating the popularity of these options among customers.
Amazon's expansion of its delivery network and services is expected to benefit both customers and rural communities. The company aims to provide faster deliveries to more people while creating new employment opportunities in these areas. The recent expansion and job creation efforts are part of Amazon's ongoing commitment to improving its services and contributing to local economies.
