Wanna know what's cooking in Saxony? Seven more vocational schools are about to sizzle with some major EU grants, totaling over 1.3 million euros, for sleek gear and building spruce-ups. Announced by Saxony's Ministry of Culture, these babies are meant to upskill training to suit the evolving job market and beef up the skilled workforce in sedimentary areas.

Education Minister, Conrad Clemens (CDU), chimed in: "We're investing in swanky learning zones, bolstering the long-term viability of our vocational schools in Saxony."

So, which schools are getting the hot sauce?

  • Plucky Leipziger Land's Vocational School Center (BSZ) nets approximately 325,000 euros for furniture upgrades.
  • Crafty BSZ Eilenburg cleans up with around 304,000 euros, including the installation of fancy heating tech.
  • Enterprising BSZ Löbau scoops up around 256,000 euros for kitting out specialist cabins and workshops.

The European Union (EU) uses the Just Transition Fund (JTF) to back regions pummeled by the transition to a carbon-neutral economy, including the Lusatian region (Bautzen and Görlitz districts) and Central German region (Leipzig, Leipziger Land, and Nordsachsen), as well as delightful ol' Chemnitz.

Long-term brew for Saxony

Funding has already been zapped for schools hubs in Leipzig, Wurzen, Chemnitz, Bautzen, and Niesky, among others. In total, around 43 million euros from EU and state dough are in the kitty for the 2021-2027 funding period, with the possibility of covering 90% of eligible expenses.
