Dialing Up Construction: Saxony-Anhalt's Piping Hot New State Criminal Office

Anticipated Early Commencement of LKA Building Construction - Accelerated initiation of LKA's construction projected

Let's spill the beans, shall we? The construction of the snazzy new State Criminal Office (LKA) in Saxony-Anhalt is set to kick off earlier than you can say "CSI:Magdeburg"! A chat with the Ministry of Finance's spokesperson paints the picture: " reckon we're moving up the timeline here; expect to break ground towards the end of Q3 2025, if not sooner." Originally, the plans called for construction to commence in Q2 2026, according to sources close to the scene.

What a change-up, huh? The deadline's still pointing towards the end of 2028, though. With the construction rights duly locked in and the land acquisition deals sailing through, it's all systems go for this eye-watering project, costing several hundred million euros.

But wait, what's that? You want all the scoop on the new LKA digs? Here's the lowdown: Situated in Barleben (that's Börde district) and boasting a spacious 7-hectare plot just north of Magdeburg, there'll be 20,000 square meters of office space and a humongous 3,500 square meters dedicated to laboratory ventures. Yep, that's right, they're designing this newfangled criminal office building with the most advanced standards in mind, able to accommodate a whopping 700 employees. Currently, the LKA's doing its thing at multiple spots in Magdeburg and Schönebeck (Salzlandkreis), but it's time to upgrade to something more modern—or so it seems!

The new State Criminal Office (LKA) in Saxony-Anhalt will not only have a large office space but also a significant amount dedicated to laboratory ventures, reflecting a commitment to modernity and advanced standards in its vocational training programs, aligning with the needs of various industries. To finance this ambitious project, the Ministry of Finance is expediting the construction schedule, aiming to break ground as early as Q3 2025, despite initial plans for construction in Q2 2026.
